Had Enough?

The price of gasoline has gone past $3 a gallon and continues its upward spiral. The reasons are many, but a clue surfaced recently during a television interview with the chief executive of a major oil company. When asked why prices are so high, he chided the environmentalists who had blocked the efforts of oil exploration in the gulf and other sensitive areas. Without saying it, he left the impression that we are being punished for our position on oil explorations.
Perhaps when the prices are unbearable, we will relent.....and the oil barons will have their way. Had enough? I don't think so. The president has given lip service to alternative sources of energy, but so far all we have heard is rhetoric. As a recipient of oil revenues, the president does not have the heart to go against his own interest. A few years ago,our family invested heavily in a bio-fuel project, which floundered . Other efforts have met with similar fates. Oil continues to dominate our economy and is responsible for the many wars we have encountered in efforts to sustain supplies.
It is time for a nationwide movement toward alternative fuels. Unfortunately, we are slow to respond to a national crisis, and current efforts are fragmented and ineffective. When the price of fuel reaches an unprecedented level, our economy will be decimated. People will spend less on other goods and services and all business will suffer.
Had enough? I don't think so..........

  1. Remember about two months ago when Bush was in South America and there was a big media hype about him meeting with the president of Brazil about their ability as a country to facilitate the manufacturing of alternative fuels? Whatever happened about that?
