Jerry Falwell is dead at the age of 73.......He had said he hoped to live another 15 years, but alas, God decided otherwise. It is ironic that he is the man who said God was punishing America in the 9-11 bombing because of widespread crime and corruption in this country....Falwell's golden throat led millions of voters to the polls to support his own political beliefs. Like Germany's Hitler, he had a powerful influence on millions.........and he had the money to back his agenda. In his thirst for power he corrupted America's political system, using the moral majority (his words) to bring decades of GOP rule (and the resulting wars) to the people.
It seems obvious that God has had enough of Jerry Falwell and has retired him to the dim recesses of his own oblivion. Perhaps this will cool the ferver of potent evangelists who prey on the sheeplike followers who pour their money and support into empty dreams........
Go Bob - you're my daddy! I had such mixed feelings when I heard the news about Falwell's death today... I don't want to be the sort of person who delights in the misery of others, but Jerry Falwell brought misery to so many people I couldn't help but feel that the earth was heaving a great sigh of relief that he was finally gone.

ReplyDeleteAlthough I am a Christian, I have always ranked Jerry Falwell in the category of "won't be missed by me when he's gone." I feel sorry for the grief his family is experiencing now because they loved him and surely feel his loss. I feel even more sorry for the thousands of his misguided followers who will continue his judgmental work. I pray that they will finally find God's love and wisdom now that the link to Falwell is broken. Sort of reminds me of the vampire legends, eh?
