The rise in crime throughout Florida and the rest of the nation is not lost on gun dealers. They have risen to the occasion by publishing large display ads in newspapers with a fascinating array of the most deadly weapons designed for self defense. I am attracted to the Mossberg 500, a 12 ga. pistol grip shotgun with 8 shot capacity. It shoots up to 3" magnums and is advertised as "great home defense", That gun will blow an intruder right out the door.
Then there is the Glock 17, 9mm. with two 10 round and one 17 round magazines, just in case you have a small war on your hands. It is a little pricey but well worth the investment when you really need one. I am attracted to the Hi-point C-9. an 8-round, 9mm automatic, which is on sale now for only $169. It is affordable and every homeowner should have one
If you shrink from the thought of owning a gun, remember that the criminals are out there waiting for the opportunity to take your money or your life......and they don't seem to care either way. The America we love is infested with a variety of hoodlums who should be exterminated when they attempt to harm us..........
My adult children have guns which they use for recreation and protection. For 30 years I had an old World War 2 relic which was doubtless brought over to this country by some GI. It was a 9mm automatic which I gave to my grandson a few weeks ago. Now I plan to visit the gun shop and get one of those Hi-points as a replacement.
I gave up my gun a couple of years ago when I realized that regardless of what might happen were I to be confronted by a criminal, the possibility that my gun might be stolen by a burglar - some stupid teenager or gangbanger - and used to hurt someone else... that was something I couldn't live with. I gave it to a member of the sheriff's department because I figured he could at least keep it safer than I was likely to manage.
ReplyDeleteWe all have different places where we draw the line... even when I feel vulnerable, I can never quite imagine killing someone, because I know how ambiguous situations can be - how would I know that person's real intentions, and how could I kill someone who just wanted my television?
