If you drive a car that averages 30 miles to the gallon you will pay a buck for every 10 miles at today's prices. A thirsty car will cost you more. Simply do the basic math and learn how much you are paying at the pump. The figures you come up with will be enough to convince you that this country must find an alternative fuel. Americans cannot continue to send massive amounts of money to foreign countries who, in turn, use their obscene profits to finance "terrorists" who vow our destruction. This is insane.
I have been a longtime advocate of ethanol as a cheaper source of energy. Solar powered refineries can produce a cleaner, better fuel at lower costs. Our infrastructure is already in place throughout the nation in the network of service stations on every corner and along the highways. Simply change the fuel that is offered on the market. It is that simple. We find objections to the proposal from a variety of sources but upon examination it appears the chief opponents are those in the oil business. Our own president could be described as an oil baron who made millions from fossile fuels. Books have been written about the Bush family ties to the Saudis for generations. Arabs have been sitting on a huge deposit of oil that has lured Americans since the turn of the century.
We Americans mustcut the ties with foreign oil. We must be independent and free to operate an energy business without concessions to any foreign nation. We should keep our national guard at home tosecure our own borders, rather than sending them abroad to secure the flow of foreign oil to this country,
When our young men and women enlist in the national guard they should be assured they will remain at home where they are needed. Wehave hundred of miles of unprotected border that requires their attention.
When energy needs are produced in this country without reliance on other nations our domestic economy will prosper. Brazil has shown us the way with the production of ethanol from sugar cane. Their country has been freed from the tyrany of oil barons....and so should we.
