We are at great risk
Everywhere we see rising risks to this country.........in the form of terrorists, religious freaks and those who are just plain nuts. Witness the Muslim who shot up a military base and killed many soldiers before he was brought down....or the rhetoric from Iran, North Korea and others who would like to see this country collapse. In considering these risk factors, however, I believe they can be contained, or limited inthe degree of harm we might suffer. But there is this one thing that may be our downfall. I refer to our Congressional leaders who have so insulated themselvess from the public domain that they are blissfully unaware of the harm they are doing to us and to themselves. I refer, of sourse, to the political corruption that is rotting us from within.
In a news report released today by a reputable agency who does these studies reported that the overall average of corporate funds paid to our elected was more than $400,000 to congressmen and three times that amount paid to senators. This is a shocking revelation............and ever more so when these same leaders see nothing wrong with tthis lack of honest representation of the public. It is more than unfair that corporate interests come first on such vital issues as health care, military expenditures and economic recovery.
The study also revealed that those who voted against health reform received more money than those who voted for reform. That is not surprising when we consider the caliber of our elected leaders. They have demonstrated without even a blush that they are for sale....and that factor undermines the very foundation of our beloved country. The representatives of corporatism have beguiled themselves into believing that there is nothing wrong with what they are doing...because everyone else is doing it.
We now have a system of government that is rotting from within....and there seems to be nothing we can do about if..because many voters do not take the time to observe and beware.....and that's what corporatism is counting on. The power and the control of this country has been usurped by a few and I despair.

Oh Dad - you're such a pinko... ;->
ReplyDeleteSeriously, though - I agree that we are in more danger from our internal infections than from our external enemies. It's hard to know how to fight this disease... where do we start? If we don't approach it in the right way our risk is even greater. People are overwhelmed by the magnitude of it all, I know I am.
