So now we know

The recent statements on MSNBC by the GOP Senate miniority leader led us to believe that he want to see President Obama as a one-term president....and that is why he is heading a republican blockade of just about everything the democrats propose. He said he wants to see Obama fail, and I believe that, but his real reason for fighting for a tax cut for the rich is nothing more than pure greed.  You see, he is one of the rich and he wants that tax break. His net woth is more than $19 million, according to the news channel, and it is in his interest to hold on to a few more bucks rather than vote for a sensible solution to our country's problem of an ever growing deficit. It seems to me that is a conflict of interest when he uses his power as a senator for personal gain. His puppet in the house, the miniority leader, voices the same retoric because he also is one of the rich. His net worth is more than three million dollars. In order to disguise their motives, they have cast a wide net to include all the other millionaires in this country and that amounts to enough money to solve all our financial problems, if they would just pay up in accordance with the statute which states the present tax breaks will expire at the end of the year.

The main obstacle to the stalemate is that Obama wants to extend the tax break to the working people who earn less than $250,000 a year.  As a taxpayer of midest means I propose that we just let the tax code expire for everyone and the needed money will start pouring in to IRS. It will set us on the road to recovery even though it might be a little tough on the little guys like you and me.

The republicans also are opposed to extending unemployment compensation, saying we cannot afford the extra burden. One GOPer even exclaimed that the recipients would "just put it away" and not spend it for the food, clothing and shelter they need. Actually the money is sorely needed and would be a boost to the economy as it is used for necessities.

The rich, on the other hand, will not accelerate spending with any tax savings engendered by the GOP position. They have all they need and want and the errant tax dollars they may accumulate with a new tax break will no doubt find a way into new investments and greater returns for the rich.
